Abstract

An abstract painting is a work that does not attempt to imitate reality or any tangible idea, but rather presents shapes, lines, and spots that are not tangible. Influenced by Picasso, Rouault, and Miró, Litvinovsky began painting in the abstract style in the 1950s. His style is not entirely abstract; it is characterized by shapes and spots in bright primary colors, yet he occasionally retains the human figure and a certain figurative connection to reality.
