Portraits

Litvinovsky did not sell his paintings as a matter of principle. Since he still had to support himself and his family, and his primary skill was painting, he chose to do so by painting commissioned portraits. His penetrating vision, mastery of drawing, and developed sense of color made him a first-class portrait painter.

The process worked as follows: when an institution or the state of Israel wanted to present a public, state, or international figure with a gift, they obtained photographs of the recipient and gave them to Litvinovsky. He would then use these photographs to paint the requested portrait. Sometimes this process was done as part of a visit by a senior Israeli figure abroad.

Among the personalities drawn by Litvinovsky are the following: Hayim Nahman Bialik, Shaul Tchernichovsky, Meir Dizengoff, Menachem Gnessin, Aharon Meskin, Hanna Rovina, Berl Katznelson, David Ben Gurion, Levi Eshkol, Pinchas Sapir, Golda Meir, Eliezer Kaplan, Pinchas Rotenberg, David Remez, Edis De Philippe and many more.

From the list of presidents painted by Litvinovsky, the following should be noted: USA presidents Harry Truman and John Kennedy, the Israeli presidents Chaim Weizmann, Yitzhak Ben Zvi, Zalman Shazar and the Shah of Persia.
